A Day in Charleston

Hey guys!! I am very excited about today’s post because I get to talk about my favorite place ever! Yesterday my best friend Lauren aka Simply Lauren Liz and I went to Charleston, South Carolina. We were only there for a day but it was well worth it.
We left yesterday around 7:30 am and had to stop for Starbucks of course. Our ride to Charleston wasn’t too bad, we were there by 11.
Our first stop was Battery Park! The houses along the battery are absolutely beautiful. I can only dream of living in one.
Lauren and I explored Church Street which is right near the Battery. The houses were beautiful and so rich with history. There were perfect places for photos. Everywhere you looked there was a gorgeous backdrop.
Lauren and I spent about an hour wandering around and taking pictures. The worst part was the heat. South Carolina has got to be one of the hottest places on the planet lol.
I wore my favorite white jeans from Old Navy which you can shop similar ones here! I also wore a cute top that I got from TJ Maxx.  And I wore my platinum Jack Rogers.

After we took pictures and explored for a while we were ready for lunch. We left the Battery and drove to Kings Street. If you’re looking for places to shop in Charleston, Kings Street has a ton of stores. You can find places like Loft, Lilly Pulitzer, Gap, and Vineyard Vines.

We grabbed brunch once we got to Kings Street. We ate a cute restaurant called Kitchen 208. My food was so good y’all! I got the Charleston brunch special and it included bacon, eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. It’s a great place to grab food if you’re going to be on Kings Street!

After we ate we headed out to do some shopping. We pretty much just window shopped lol neither one of us bought anything. But sometimes window shopping is just as fun! The last store we went to was The Skinny Dip. It was the cutest store I’d ever been too! I wanted to buy everything.

There is a coffee and wine bar upstairs at The Skinny Dip and it’s cute, it even has an outdoor patio! I especially loved the Charleston inspired art on the wall!
We walked back down Kings Street and headed to Lauren’s car. We drove from Charleston to Sullivan’s Island. It’s probably a 25 minutes drive. We ate dinner at Mex 1 Coastal Cantina, I had the Banging Shrimp Baja Bowl and it was great!!

After dinner, we decided we were going to head back home. I love visiting Charleston, even if it is just for the day! Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to call it home.

Thanks for reading y’all!
xoxo Emily

Charleston Travel Guide

Charleston, South Carolina is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world. This city is a true southern gem. From the beautiful historic homes along the Battery to the marvelous seafood. Charleston is a cultural hub and it is amazing! Today I’m sharing a travel guide to Charleston, South Carolina!

 Where to stay?

Charleston has other smaller cities and towns around it, that make it really easy to find a nice and affordable place to stay. You could splurge and stay in downtown Charleston, you could venture out to one of the barrier islands like Sullivan’s Island or Isle of Palms and stay in a quaint beach cottage, you could even stay in a hotel near Mount Pleasant or West Ashley. All of these options are great, even if you don’t stay downtown you are just a quick drive to Charleston. The past few times my friends and I have gone, we’ve stayed in Mount Pleasant. There are great shops and places to eat here so it was a great place to stay! The drive to Charleston took maybe 10 minutes.  Do your research! You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on a hotel.
What to do?

Charleston has so many things to do it’s unreal. In downtown, you can take a tour of historical homes, shop at the AMAZING high-end shops and antique stores on King Street, shop in the historical market, take a ghost tour, walk along the Battery and check out White Point Gardens! The list goes on and on and if you want more places to check out just message me on social media or comment on this post!
If you decide to stay outside of Charleston, there are other things to do! You can visit Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palm, John’s Island (there are many more barrier islands you can visit). There are so many nice public beaches! These beach towns have great food, cute beach shops, beautiful homes, and pretty quiet beaches. They remind you of something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Speaking of Nicholas Sparks, if you’ve ever seen Dear John then the pier at Isle of Palms might look a bit familiar. The scene in the beginning of the movie when John jumps off the pier was filmed at that exact pier! Even if you don’t stay here when you visit Charleston, they are definitely worth a day trip.
If you stay in Mount Pleasent there are great restaurants and great places to shop. You can also visit a couple different Plantation homes. The last time I was in Charleston, my friends and I visited Boone Hall Plantation and it was so beautiful, the house was grand and the grounds made me feel like I was transported back in time. If you recognize the main house it’s probably because you’ve seen it before. If you’ve seen The Notebook, Boone Hall was Allie’s summer home!
Where to eat?

Y’all Charleston has some of the best food I’ve ever had. When I was there last we ate seafood in downtown at a restaurant called Fleet Landing. It was a casual restaurant, it wasn’t anything fancy. It was really good and surprisingly the prices were good. The wait wasn’t too long which was also a bonus. Tbonz Gill & Grill is also a great place to eat. Especially if you are at the Market! (It’s literally right beside the market.) There is also a nice place beside Tbonz to get dessert. Kaminsky’s is a dessert cafe and their desserts are to die for! It is a must do every time you visit Charleston!
If you like ice cream, you’ll love Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Cafe in Mount Pleasant. They have great ice cream and a large variety of other foods!
If you’re venturing out to Sullivan’s Island you have to try Mex 1 Coastal Cantina. When I went back in January, we tried this place and their food was great and the atmosphere was fun! You could tell that the locals really liked it.

I hope that this helps my fellow travelers out there!
