Man, oh man, how is it already July!? I can’t believe we’re officially in the second half of 2021. That feels so weird to say. This is my last month off before going back to school in August. I can’t believe there are only a few weeks left of summer!
Anyway, this post was supposed to go up last week on the last day of June. But that didn’t happen. Better late than never, though! So, here’s my June Edit.
What I Watched in June
I’ve been rewatching Friends, Gossip Girl, and One Tree Hill. Those shows are definitely my comfort shows. Tonight, I actually finished watching The Bold Type on Freeform. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been watching this show for like six years. I love so many things about this show. I loved the story of each main character. I loved the fashion and the music. It just made me immensely happy. It’s available to watch on Hulu, and I highly recommend it!
I also watched In The Heights this month! I really enjoyed it! If you didn’t know, In The Heights is a musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (The mastermind behind the musical Hamilton!) He wrote the musical In The Heights before Hamilton. He even stared in the lead role on Broadway. The musical follows, Usnavi, a bodega owner in the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights. Anthony Ramos, who plays Usnavi, was also in Hamilton alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda. I really enjoyed this musical! If you have HBO Max, it’s still streaming.
What I Read in June
I finished three books in June, which is good for me! The first book was The Happily Ever After Playlist. This book was the first Abby Jimenez book I read, and I will definitely be reading her other books. I really enjoyed her style. This book incorporated SO much music. Each chapter actually had a song that went along with it, and I really loved that. I’m a huge music lover. It was a great rom-com read!
The second book I read this month was Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This was hands down a five-star read for me. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the over all aesthetic of this book. My favorite book that I read in 2020 was a Taylor Jenkins Reid book. (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is SO GOOD!!) I actually wrote an entire review on Malibu Rising. You can click here to read it.
The third book I read in June was People We Meet on Vacation. I read this one right after I finished Malibu Rising. It was a welcomed change of pace. This was a lighthearted rom-com. It took place in different places all around the world. Emily Henry did a good job of writing likable and relatable main characters. She also did a good job of making me feel like I had traveled all over. I also wrote a full review of this book on the blog; you can click here to read it.
I’m currently reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown. I’m really enjoying it, and hopefully, once I finish with it, I’ll write a review on the blog for you guys.
Favorite Purchases of June
These pink shorts are similar to the ones at Lululemon, and they are SO much cheaper. They come in a ton of colors and are only $10. I literally bought three pairs. They’re very comfortable and are great for running errands or travel days. I got that bag in pink, and it’s the cutest! It’s a great size. It’s coming with me to Nashville this month. The bag is inspired by Gucci and is a great alternative to a bag that costs thousands of dollars. And lastly, I bought this dainty necklace last month, but I didn’t get it until June. I love it! It’s actually a little smaller than I had anticipated, but it’s well made and is a great piece to wear alone or to layer.
What I Listened to in June
June Pop!
Red (Taylor’s Version) is coming! We have a little while before it’s released, but now we know this is the next rerecording that will be released. I love Red; it’s definitely a fall album. So, a November release date is perfect. I can’t wait to blast All too Well. (Uhm, does Joe Jonas have any advice for Jake Gyllenhaal??)
Britney Spears had a hearing last week in regards to her conservatorship. She wants it to end, and it should. I feel so bad for Britney. The stipulations and rules of this conservatorship are ridiculous. Hopefully, justice will be served.
The leading ladies of One Tree Hill have started a podcast. Drama Queens is a new podcast starting Sophia Bush, Joy Lenz, and Hilarie Burton Morgan. I listened to their episode about the pilot episode of One Tree Hill and loved it. (it’s one of my favorite shows haha). I learned so much and really enjoyed the banter that those ladies have!
Thanks so much for reading my June Edit, I hope that you enjoyed!
