My Summer Reading List

Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! I hope that your week is going well. I have been on a short little trip with my family. It’s been so nice to get away with them!

Today, I thought it would be fun to share my summer reading list. I know that June is nearly over, but I can share what I’ve already read and what I plan to read before summer ends! So, without further ado, let’s get into it!

What I’ve Already Read This Summer:

-Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan

This book was so good! Katie, (BeachreadsandBubble on IG) raved about this book, so I gave it a read. I’m currently into books where one of the main characters is a celebrity (or both lol). This was a fun and easy read about a divorced mom of two and a famous actor. I loved Annabel’s style in this book. I was rooting for Nora and Leo from the start. I gave this book 4 stars!

-Birds of California by Katie Cotugno

This was another book where the main characters were famous. I told you guys that I’m on a kick, for sure. In Birds of California, Fiona St. James and Sam Fox were starts of a hit drama that is potentially getting a reboot. Fiona has had a rough go of being famous, while Sam has most definitely not. They reconnect and rekindle some old feelings. It was a cute book, for sure. I gave it 3 stars.

-Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan

This is another book by Annabel Monaghan. I really liked this book! This book gave me The Summer I Turned Pretty vibes. However, the characters are older. There are flashbacks, and it felt very nostalgic! It was the perfect book to read at the beach. Sam and Wyatt grew up spending their summers at the beach, and now 14 years later, they are back at the beach and have the chance to reconnect. It was a cute second chance romance! I also gave this book 4 stars!

Hey guys! Happy Tuesday! Today, I’m sharing a blog post all about my favorite books that I read In 2021. This was a fun post to put together! Overall, I read 19 books last year, and I enjoyed a lot of them! But these 6 were my absolute favorites.

The Dating Plan

This book was absolutely adorable. I read it last year in February. It was a lighthearted story about a second chance romance. It ticked all of the boxes for me. It was an easy read and was super charming. I also loved the diversity! I haven’t read any of Sara Desai’s other books, but they’re all on my TBR! You can click here to read my full review of The Dating Plan.

Malibu Rising

Oh, I loved this book so much. I’m a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid, and this book which came out during the summer did NOT disappoint. This book takes place in the 80s and follows the lives of 4 siblings. Their dad was famous (Mick Riva, if you read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo). Every time I read any of her books, I become consumed by what she has created. This one was no exception. This one was tied for my favorite book of 2021. I also reviewed this book earlier this year, you can read it here!

People We Meet on Vacation

This romcom was a super fun read. It was the first Emily Henry book I read, and I really enjoyed it. It was a cute take on friends to lovers, and I was very invested in Poppy and Alex’s friendship/romantic relationships. This book was cool because it had time jumps. It was also really cool because they traveled a lot. It gave me the travel bug!! I reviewed this one as well. You can check it out by clicking here!

Daisy Jones & The Six

I really enjoyed this other Taylor Jenkins Reid book. If you like music/70s rock and roll, this book will probably appeal to you! The entire thing is set up like an interview, and as someone who loves music/pop culture, I really liked it. This book is being adapted into a movie, and I can’t wait to see what they do with it!

Get a Life, Chloe Brown

I actually picked this book up to read in 2020 and didn’t read much before I just stopped. I really wanted to try it again, so I picked it up again over the summer. It was so good! Talia Hibbert is such a good writer. I really enjoyed the characters and the romance in this one. There are actually two other books in this series. I reviewed this book back in August. You can click here to read the full review.

Beach Read

This is the book that tied Malibu Rising for my favorite book of 2021! I read this one after I read People We Meet on Vacation, and this one is my favorite Emily Henry book. Gus and January had so much chemistry, and I was so invested in their relationship. I was rooting for them the entire time. Gus Everette may have been such a grump, but he’s such a great fictional male lead. I want to reread this book; that’s how much I loved it!

I hope that you guys enjoyed today’s post! Have you read any of these books? If so, which ones? Thanks for reading!

Book Review : American Royals

I get commission through clicks and purchases made through links in this post.

Hey guys! So, I’m back today with another book review. A few weeks ago I read American Royals by Katherine McGee. And needless to say, I loved it SO much. The sequel comes out next month(it’s called Majesty btw) and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the story.

In the book, the Washington family is the royal family of America. George Washington became king after the Revolutionary War instead of the president. And now all these years later, his family is still on the throne.

I think part of the reason that I really liked this book was the detail and the way it included so much history. I have to give major props to Katherine McGee because there were so many details, and I’m sure so much research went into this book. She not only had to know American history but also A LOT of royal protocol. This book was perfect for someone like me, I’m a sucker for royal drama and history. It was really a win-win for me.

Anyway, I highly suggest this book. While it is YA fiction, I still really enjoyed it! I cannot wait to read Majesty.

Thanks so much for reading!

xo Emily
